It's time to stop employers paying staff the minimum wage using their tips, and improve the transparency of how tips/gratuities are distributed by employers amongst their staff.
This campaign seeks to have more sitting days per calendar year of the House of Commons, with a view to allowing the chamber and its member to fulfill their duties to the country and to constituents.
This is an interesting campaign and it is something that I am certainly open to. I think we need to have a think about the amount of time the Commons sits and I think there is a case for the House sitting in September.
I also think we need wider reform too. I haven't seen many campaigns on Labour Space about how we reform the political system. I'd like to know what you think and if you can get support for your campaign.
Interesting idea. I also think politicians have to do a better job of getting people involved and giving them reasons to take part.
What do you think of citizenship classes? Do you think they have improved things?
Whizz- Kidz and I want to change the way the government approaches wheelchair services within the NHS and to provide funding so that they can work with charities such as Whizz-Kidz to provide custom made mobility equipment for all children and young people in the UK
The video is up and I just want to say how much I enjoyed meeting Rebecca last week. She is a brilliant advocate for her cause and the LabourSpace campaign she ran should be an example to others.
We’re going to set up a meeting for Rebecca and the campaign with Phil Hope, the minister for Care Services at the Health Department and we’ll let you know how it goes.
Thanks for your campaign Laura. This is really important and it's brilliant you've got involved. The government have just published an action plan about this issue which you might be interested in. You can read it at www.dcsf.gov.uk
This campaign seeks a pay rise for workers on minimum wages to protect jobs by maintaining the purchasing power of working families and stimulate the economy.
Thanks for posting Dan. I am sure you've seen the recent announcment that we're increasing it to £5.80 an hour from October. Some people will say its not enough but it is significant. Campaigns like this help a lot.
The Government should make the power companies use some of their profits to supply and fit solar panels and wind turbines to all council houses an housing association houses in the UK as the residents in these properties cannot choose what services are provided to them
You might be interested in the smart meters announcement I made last week. I've just commented on the PPM campaign so check there for more info. Or here http://tiny.cc/inoUG
Prepayment meter customers are being charged a premium to heat their homes. The Government must act now to ensure that prepay customers don't pay a penny more than customers who pay for their energy via quarterly bills.
I have some new news that you might be interested in. Last week I set out government plans for roll out Smart meters across the UK. Smart meters will empower all consumers to monitor their own energy use and make reductions in energy consumption and carbon emissions as a result. Smart meters will also mean the end of inaccurate bills and estimated meter readings. This is a big project affecting 26 million homes, and several million businesses, so it's important we design a system that brings best value to everyone involved. Let me know what you think
In England, unlike Scotland and Wales, when we travel to visit a loved one in hospital, we have to pay car parking fees.
This immoral yet factual system is detested nationwide and together we can stop it.
Support this campaign and begin a more ethical health service in England.
Thank you.
